About Us

The Dominican community is growing rapidly abroad, and Premios Dominicanísimo aims to highlight the hard work and success of Dominicans around the world. In a night full of splendor and elegance, Dominicans showcase to the world the dedication and industrious spirit of their people.

The Dominican diaspora, the 18th largest in the United States, consists of approximately 2.4 million U.S. residents who were either born in the Dominican Republic or identify as having Dominican ancestry or origin.

Global remittances to the Dominican Republic have more than doubled in the last decade, reaching nearly $8 billion in 2020, according to estimates from the World Bank. Remittances accounted for approximately 10% of the Dominican Republic’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in 2020.

The age distribution of Dominican immigrants closely mirrors that of the total foreign-born population: 8% were under 18 years old, 77% were between 18 and 64, and 15% were 65 or older. Both groups were older than the U.S.-born population, with the average age of Dominicans being 45 years and all immigrants averaging 46 years, compared to 37 years for those born in the U.S.

Artists, entrepreneurs, broadcasters, and influential figures in Dominican life are honored in this grand gala night, a moment of pride and celebration for the Dominican community.
